In 1983, Anheuser-Busch developed the Anheuser-Busch Health Mobile as a way to provide greater access to basic health services within communities where such access is limited, or nonexistent. The mobile unit, staffed by volunteers from the National Black Nurses Association, the Red Cross and the American Heart Association, travels to a number of cities each year providing free immunizations and screenings that focus on the diseases disproportionately impacting our community, including sickle cell anemia, high blood pressure and diabetes. Each year more than several thousand screenings are conducted, and nearly half of the individuals screened are referred to doctors for further medical care.
